“We are so proud to be selected for this honor,” says Angie Cowger. “We love our location and our state.”
The Bon Appetit Appalachia! campaign is a project of the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), a regional economic development agency whose mission is to be a strategic partner and advocate for sustainable community and economic development in Appalachia.
ARC and its Tourism Council, which includes representatives from the 13 states within the Appalachian Region, developed the Bon Appetit Appalachia! initiative to highlight the region’s most distinctive local food destinations.
The locations identified on the interactive website map and the accompanying paper map, were selected through an online nomination process that took place in spring 2013. The interactive website includes approximately 650 destinations, while the paper map highlights 283 of these locations.
Thanks to everyone who nominated us… and bon appetit!
