Winner enjoying Custard Stand Chili prizes from WV tourism holiday campaign

During the holidays, the West Virginia Division of Tourism featured Custard Stand Chili in its “12 Days of #AlmostHeaven Gifts” giveaway on its Facebook page. The contest promoted gifts made in West Virginia. Our gift pack included Custard Stand Chili merchandise and both of our chilis. To enter, people made a comment on the page with a photo of a favorite winter scene.

Andrea Ware of Westover, WV, submitted the winning photo and sent us some photos after receiving her gift pack. She grew up in Braxton County and attended West Virginia Univerity for undergrad and grad school. She now works for a government contractor in Morgantown.

Andrea, a longtime fan of Custard Stand Hot Dog Chili and The Custard Stand restaurants, says she likes her hot dogs topped with Custard Stand Hot Dog Chili and slaw, “the only way!”

Besides the goodies in the box, the dry ice that keeps the chili cold in transit turned out to be a hit with Andrea’s boyfriend, Tim (whose motto is “Safety Third). He took it outside for some dry ice fun.

And despite the begging look in the photo, her dog Calypso didn’t get a hot dog! If Calypso looks familiar to some of you, back in 2012 she won a contest and was one of six dogs to be featured on the WV Lotto”Doggone Lucky” scratch-off tickets.

Congratulations to Andrea, Tim and Calypso! We may need to look into making some dog gear!
