3 locations of The Custard Stand to participate in Dine Out For BRA Day Oct. 18

Dine Out For BRA Day at The Custard StandWant to support breast cancer survivors AND enjoy dinner or treats at The Custard Stand? On Wednesday, Oct. 18, The Custard Stand restaurants in Flatwoods, Summersville and Webster Springs are among select restaurants participating in Dine Out For BRA Day (Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day), a statewide fundraiser for the WVU Cancer Institute’s BRA Fund.

The Custard Stand will donate 50% of total profits made from 5 p.m. until closing on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the restaurants in Flatwoods, Summersville and Webster Springs.

“The treatments for breast cancer can take a painful toll on women and cripple their self-esteem,” says Angie Cowger, co-owner of Custard Stand Food Products and The Custard Stand LLC. “Breast reconstruction is one way to rebuild confidence. We are proud to be able to help women in West Virginia.”

BRA Day, which started in 2012, is celebrated the third Wednesday each October to help women and their doctors know they have choices. One in eight women develop breast cancer, but less than 23% know their breast reconstruction options.

The BRA Fund supports educational outreach and assists patients seeking breast reconstruction who are undergoing care at the WVU Cancer Institute. Insurance coverage may give access to care, but the financial burden of travel, lodging, meals, medication supplies, and more can prevent patients from even considering reconstruction.
