Target in Charleston adds BOTH styles of Custard Stand Chili

Custard stand chili Target Dee and Angie Cowger of Custard Stand Food Products made a special delivery Wednesday morning to the Target store in Charleston: Custard Stand Hot Dog Chili AND Custard Stand Chili Soup with Beef and Beans.

“Target is the first major retailer and currently the only store anywhere carrying Custard Stand Chili Soup,” said Dee Cowger, who created the chili soup recipe, introduced in 2010. “We have been working hard to get the soup into another retailer so people can enjoy our products year-round.”

Working through a local vendor program, the Custard Stand chilis are the first products made in West Virginia to be featured in the grocery aisles of Target at 30 RHL Blvd, South Charleston, WV 25309.

Custard Stand Hot Dog Chili (12 oz., $4.79) and Custard Stand Chili Soup with Beef and Beans (32 oz., $6.99) can be found in the store’s frozen food section.

Like Custard Stand Hot Dog Chili, America’s Tastiest chili soup with beef and beans is 100% ground beef and free of trans-fats and gluten. “Dee’s recipe is closer to the kind your mom or dad makes for dinner with kidney beans and tomatoes,” said Angie Cowger. “He added green chilies and a secret blend of spices for a little kick.”

The Cowgers hope this is the beginning of a long relationship with the second largest retailer in the U.S. “This is how we started with other retailers,” said Dee Cowger. “We’re happy that it’s a market we know and offering another product we’re proud of.”
