West Virginia Hot Dogs (Slaw Dogs)

This is it - the real deal. The One and Only. West Virginia's most popular hot dog. We like them covered in chili and topped with cole slaw and chopped onion. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it! It's as good as it gets.

Optional toppings include (but are completely unnecessary); relish, cheese and good  ‘ol ketchup and mustard.

  1. Preheat grill to 350 degrees F(175 degrees C). Place hot dogs on the grill until they’re grilled to your satisfaction.
  2. Wrap all the buns in heavy foil and lay on the top rack of the grill for warming.
  3. While hot dogs are cooking, pour chili into a saucepan and heat to boil. Reduce heat and simmer until the hot dogs are done. Remove from heat and serve.
  4. Fill your warmed bun with a grilled hot dog. Top the hot dog with hot Custard Stand Hot Dog Chili, creamy cole slaw and fresh chopped onions (in that order).

If you choose to add mustard remember the mustard goes under the hot dog, or in an extreme case on top of the dog, but under the chili.
